Ready to invest more time in dating your spouse? Have you been busy with babies, commitments, and work and have not made each other a priority? I have been there. Heck, I am still there sometimes. Truth is, date night is difficult to make happen. What I have learned is that while it is difficult, it is also incredibly WORTH IT. You do not need the fanciest restaurant in town or typical movie and dinner digs to make it happen. Life works in the little things and dates are no different. Check out these 10 date ideas that are a little different than usual, but will work to draw you and your spouse together in a simple way.
10. Sunset walk
Find a park or trail that you like, hike it, watch the sunset together. Hand-holding mandatory. Make out sesh optional, but highly encouraged.
9. Frisbee Golf
Most towns have a frisbee golf course. Find a local one a run around with your beau. Get moving and enjoy the inevitable foibles and all the giggles that accompany them.
8. Coffee Dream Talk
Grab a notebook, a couple of pens, and head to a local coffee shop. Grab your fav latte and individually write ten dreams you have for the next year and talk about your lists. You can repeat for five and ten years, if you want. See what your spouse is dreaming about and share what is on your heart, too. Bonus points if you use papermate flair felt pens cuz errrything is better with those bad boys.
7. Find an Adventure
Every town has something fun. If it is winter, try a snow activity. In the summer, look for horseback riding, rafting, hiking, zip-lining, or fishing. It does not matter much what you do, just that you do something new and exciting with your honey.
6. Dessert First
Have a dessert tour where each of you pick your favorite dessert in town and go share one at each place. Grab some chocolate sauce or whipped cream to bring home for your third stop on the tour š
5. Appetizer Crawl
Similar to the dessert tour, pick your top three places to grab a drink and appetizer and strut around town enjoying your favorite nibbles together. Each of you pick one and then head to a special restaurant to you both (one of your first date stops, maybe!) and pick one together.
4. Drive Time
Fill your gas tank, prep a playlist, grab a drive thru burger and shake, and drive. Sing, talk, sip yo shake gurl, and soak in the man you chose to spend forever with.
3. Fro Yo Finery
Dress up super fancy and grab some frozen yogurt. You do not have to go anywhere fancy to dress fancy, just do it for yourself and each other. Step it up a notch and ditch your normal go-to and see how well you know each other: make your spouseās dream fro yo and let them make yours.
2. Gym Buster
Go to the gym and run a workout together or try a class. Hot yoga, crossfit, or a TRX class might fit the bill well. Even if that is not your normal go-to, trying something new is always good and worthwhile! Head to chipotle for some chips and guac after. Cuzā¦avocados. Duh.
1. Adoration All Around
One of our favorite things is to add a stop to visit Jesus in the Blessed Sacrament. Daily Mass together or Adoration is such a great way to spend time together. Even if it is just a five minute stop together before dinner reservations, it brings you together and realigns your priorities!
