So often, I find myself asking where the day has run off to. How did the morning, afternoon, and evening whiz by? When did the sun decide to set again? How are my babies growing so quickly? Where did that wrinkle come from? Why does time move so fast?
Since I was young, I have been writing all sorts of things: journals, poems, little stories, notes to friends or family. Writing in a public setting always fell into the “someday” category: in pleasant company with a trip to Italy, climbing Mt. Whitney, and snorkeling in Tahiti. I have decided someday is today. No more waiting. The perfect time will never come. I have to make it time.
While praying over the concept of this blog for the last few years, a few things came to mind. First of all, I am a daughter of a great and merciful God! That needs to be present. I am a wife. Of course that will be among my topics because it is part of who I am. I am a mother. My children perpetually mold and shape me. I am a sister, friend, relative, artist, baker, decorator, leader, follower, worker, philosopher, thinker, writer, lover. I want this to be a tribe of the glorious women that are at home in the arms of Christ and embrace whatever call is needed in their season of life, because the only sure thing about any season is that it will eventually end and fade into another.
Christ reminded me of the power of being rooted in Him in this excerpt from Ephesians. God placed these words gently on my heart as catalyst for this blog and I pray it speaks to your soul, too. It is appropriately titled, “Prayer for the Readers”:
“For this reason I kneel before the Father, from whom every family in heaven and on earth is named, that he may grant you in accord with the riches of his glory to be strengthened with power through his Spirit in the inner self, and that Christ may dwell in your hearts through faith; that you, rooted and grounded in love, may have strength to comprehend with all the holy ones what is the breadth and length and height and depth, and to know the love of Christ that surpasses knowledge, so that you may be filled with all the fullness of God. Now to him who is able to accomplish far more than all we ask or imagine, by the power at work within us, to him be glory in the church and in Christ Jesus to all generations, forever and ever. Amen.”
I want to unpack this verse, post by post. It might be a personal reflection, recipe, craft, or a parenting or marriage tip, but I pray whatever the topic, that it helps lead you to peace. I pray the recipes help gather people around your table. That the crafts help you engage with your artistic side or with your children. I pray that you find peace in your marriage or role as a mother. I pray that your friendships flourish. I pray your priorities align with your prayers.
I cannot wait for all the fun we will have together and I thank you for stepping into this little tribe with me. I am so glad you are here!
